Water Purifier in Modern Kitchen - Under Sink & Wall Mounted Types

In the present time when the water supply has high pollutants and TDS, a water purifier has become a necessity and holds a special place in your kitchen and life. Now the question is which one to buy. Well, we are here to help you with this.

Water Purifier Models:

  1. Wall Mounted: Gets mounted on the wall, usually the provision for it is given above the sink area.

Advantage:

a. Price is lower than the under-sink model.

b. No need for plumbing line and electrical point re-work, as usually wall points are provided unless discussed before with Architect or Builder

Disadvantage:

a. Takes up wall storage space, usually around a 2ft wall box is made in the modern modular kitchens to hide the equipment.

b. The drain pipe for draining extra water looks clumsy.

c. Water spills while filling water as it's fixed at the overhead height.

2. Under-Sink: Gets fixed below the sink and gives a modern look with its deck/sink mounted tap.

Advantage:

a. Easy to fill water with a deck/sink-mounted tap and hence no spillage of water

b. Looks very modern & stylish and no drain pipe is visible

c. Utilises the dead space below the kitchen sink.

Disadvantage:

a. Expensive by around Rs. 3000 than wall-mounted one.

b. Plumbing line and Electrical point need to be shifted below the sink area as usually, builders provide it on the wall at the overhead position.

Water purifier basic checks before selecting a model.

1.. TDS Standard - Check the TDS level( with TDS Meter) in your water supply line before making the purchase.

• TDS is less than 200- Go for UV-UF Water Purifier.

• TDS in the range 200-2500. Go for RO Water Purifier.

• TDS is greater than 2500. A domestic Water Purifier cannot be used. Buy a water softening solution.

2. Plumbing & Electrical Connection - The water purifier needs a water inlet point and a 5Amp power socket. Check the provision and buy a wall-mounted or Under-sink model accordingly.

3. Drain Provision: The water purifier has a drain pipe for removing extra water while it purifies water, so there should be a drain provision & ideally, the purifier should be placed close to the kitchen sink.
